Covid advice for the next few weeks.

People over 65 and those with serious underlying health problems are advised to have a fourth COVID vaccination - these are now available.

Influenza vaccine is also available - this year will be a bad influenza year.

Remember that your best chance of avoiding death, serious complications or long term problems from Covid or influenza is by being up to date with your immunisations. At present that means 3 doses for most people, and 4 for some of the Covid vaccines, and an influenza vaccine.

If you are covid positive or a close contact:

Please click the links below for the latest advice from NSW health.

If you are young, healthy and immunised there is no need to contact us at the surgery.

However, if you have any of the following risk factors: over 55, Indigenous, unvaccinated, pregnant, immunosuppressed, significantly overweight or have serious underlying illnesses then please ring us or the Covid home support line as soon as you have a positive test so we can determine if you need the treatments available through NSW health.

Preparing for a COVID case in the house (ABC article):

Antivirals are available for un-immunised and high risk people with covid. They save lives, but need to be started as soon as possible after a positive test. Please ring us or the covid support line as soon as you are diagnosed with COVID so we can organise antivirals.

Do not enter the surgery if you have any symptoms like sinus pain/ loss of taste or smell/cough/runny nose/sore throat/fever/headache/diarrhoea- we will instruct you on what to do over the phone.
